Neuropsychological and Educational Evaluations
Our Neuropsychological and Educational Evaluations provide students and their parents with a road map of how students learn. We offer tangible techniques to help overcome the difficulties and a person (a HomeWork Therapist) to teach the techniques. In addition to helping students develop new ways to approach learning and studying, evaluations can help by recommending accommodations for structured test experiences in school and on standardized examinations.
Our Neuropsychological and Educational Evaluations assess three broad areas of functioning: Cognitive Skills, Academic Skills, and Emotional Functioning. To read more about this click here.
Students have fun when they come to BLC for an assessment. Really! We try to get students involved in the process by setting mutual goals, talking about the process as we work, and making sure students see the value in working on the tasks we show them. Our primary concern is that students feel good while they are working with us — they have enough experience with not feeling good when they do schoolwork.
It is hard to count the number of parents who tell us at the feedback meeting that their child said, “I want to go back to BLC and see Geena (or Kate, or Aparna, or Amy, or John...). I liked it there. I felt smart there.” Parents tell us this with disbelief in their voice, but we don’t find it surprising anymore — we think it is essential.
