Summer Programs
Summer is a great time to catch up or get ahead. We offer all of our school-year services during the summer (test preparation, essay writing, school subject tutoring, and HomeWork Therapy®). Students often find that they like to “get it over with” during the summer. They come to do all kinds of things: write a draft of a college essay; prep for the “Stuy test” (SHSAT); study for a Regents exam; learn the first few chapters of their upcoming math textbook; or complete a course in Algebra II so they can skip to PreCalculus.
Who is it for?
We offer school subject tutoring and HomeWork Therapy® all summer for any subject or test. We also offer summer school courses in all academic subjects. If your child needs to make up a course or simply wants to accelerate, we can contact your child’s school to arrange credit. Most schools are happy to provide us with a curriculum or let us make up one of our own. We will provide the school with a mid-course report, final report and grade, and copies of tests and papers.
We get a lot of phone calls at the beginning of the summer from parents who think they have a strange request. For example: “My son has a learning disability that makes it hard for him to take notes. Can you design a course around that?” Or, “Can my 8th grader with dyslexia learn to decode more fluently?” Or, “ My daughter loves physics. Can you help her study for the AP exam?” The answers are yes, yes and yes. Because of our one-on-one approach, we can address whatever your child needs.
When and how much?
The number of summer sessions varies widely based on what your child wants to accomplish. For a summer school course we recommend three hours a day, three days a week for six weeks. There is great flexibility during the summer for session times; please call us to discuss your summer schedule. Fees vary with the service.
